How to charge a donation in exchange for membership with Gravity Press

You may allow your customers to donate any amount in exchange for a MemberPress membership with Gravity Press.  The setup process for this is a bit different from the typical setup method.

Here are instructions on how to do that:

Step-by-step instructions

1. Create your registration/signup form with Gravity Forms

  • Here are the fields that you should add in your registration/signup form:
    • Name
    • Email
    • Product – Make sure to change the field type to “User defined price”. This field will take the donation amount. We’d recommend also labeling the product field as donation, that way your customers would know what the field is for.

    • Drop Down or Radio Button – This is the field where you would set up your one membership.
      • Check the box for show values and then bulk import your membership.

      • Make sure that the membership you have added is selected and then proceed with hiding this field.

    • Total
    • Credit Card (optional – depending on they type of Payment collection method you’re using. Add this to your Gravity Form, if your Stripe payment settings is set to Gravity Forms Credit Card Field. For PayPal Standard and Stripe Payment Form, you do not have to add a credit card field. )

2. Setting Up Your Feeds

Gravity Press Feed

  • Set up your Gravity Press feed. To do this, go to your Form Settings and select Gravity Press.

  • Add a new feed. Select the field name of the drop down or radio button you have added to your form in which you have imported the MemberPress membership. To avoid user registration problems, please also make sure that the field name and memberpress level field numbers match.

  • Save you feed and make sure that it is active.

User Registration Feed

  • Proceed with creating your registration feed.
  • Choose Create User if you want to register the form submitter to your site.
  • Activate the feed after.
  • For more information on how to set up this add-on, please contact Gravity Forms tech support team as this is their support.

Payment Feed (Stripe or PayPal)

  • Create a new Stripe or PayPal feed to process the donation payment.
  • Choose “Products and Services” as this is a one-time payment.
  • For the Payment Amount field, make sure that you select the Product field you have set earlier.

Now, you’re all set! If you have other questions or need further assistance in setting up your form, feel free to submit a ticket and we’d be happy to assist you.
